Acknowledgements

    I would like to thank all the professors who have taught me in the past two

years and shown me fun of knowing and learning. First and always, I am deeply

grateful to professor Zou Shen, who from the very first day in my forth-year study in

this university provided me with lively intellect and thoughtful guidance. This thesis

would have been impossible without her astute advice and critical comments. I also

benefited a lot from professor Mei Deming's enlightening and insightful instructions,

which has provided me with a firm basis for the composing of this thesis and will

always guide my way to the future academic research. Special thanks also go to
